What is a Magnificent Thing?
After our exploration with tools, we look at the classroom and think of some tools that we may need in the classroom to make us more productive. Students work together to create a magnificent thing for the classroom.
What Makes a person Magnificent?
After discussing and creating magnificent things, we begin our first grade study of famous Americans in our past that were magnificent. Students will compare themselves to our American heroes. They will also participate in a special project to deepen their understanding of what makes a person magnificent.
What makes a bird a bird?
We have discovered that a bird has feathers, wings, and a beak. We know that a bird's feathers can camouflage, keep them warm, keep them dry, and even be used to attract other birds. We know that birds use their beaks in different ways. Some beaks crush. Some beaks scoop. Some beaks stab. Some beaks tear.
Now it is time for you to explore your backyard and see how many birds you can see! Can you be a scientist and look closely at the birds features. Can you listen to the beautiful sounds that a bird makes? Now record your observations!
